Commentary

The inscription was published by Latyshev on the basis of an estampage made by Bertye-Delagard. The monument, which was represented by a drawing in Latyshev's publication, has since disappeared. A photograph is preserved at the Photo Archive, Institute for History of Material Culture, Russian Academy of Sciences (О.710.71, and the photograph II–44322, O.1529.71, published here).

The name Kostis (Kostys), a short form of Konstantinos, is widely attested in Crimea.
