Apparatus criticus

1-4: Ἔγθ[εος] (?) ἁγνοῦ Τε(ο)δόθο(υ) Solomonik

Translation

I, a lector, servant of God...

Commentary

The monument appears to be a dedication related to the construction or decoration of a church.

1–4. Solomonik read these lines incorrectly, hence her conclusions about the dedication of the church to St. Theodotos are irrelevant. A lector is mentioned in two other inscriptions from Mangup (V 183 and V 189).

3–5. On the term "servant of Christ," see commentary to V 209. On the ungrammatical use of cases, see V 53.
