Commentary

The text of the inscription is recorded in the inventory of the photographic negatives from the Eski-Kermen expedition of 1937 (Manuscript Archive, Institute for History of Material Culture, Russian Academy of Sciences f. 2. op. 1, 1937, d. 183, l. 2 ob.). I was not able to locate the photograph itself. The text as recorded shows six letters: ΦΩΣΖΑΝ. Apparently, letters that are close in shape were mixed up: eta and nu, omega and alpha with a loop.

On the formula, see Introduction IV.3.C.b.
