Commentary

The cult of goddess Rhodos, divine personification of the polis of Rhodians, developed after the synoecism of Rhodos (408/7 B.C.E.) and is attested, besides Rhodos itself, mainly in the territories that were under its influence (Cos, Naxos and others). See further Hupe 2003, 293.
