Commentary

The negative is preserved at the Photo Archive, Institute for History of Material Culture, Russian Academy of Sciences (II–2454; kindly brought to my attention by S.V. Kharitonov; see also Schmit 1932, fig. 63; Vinogradov 2004, 124).

The only possible Greek reading of the inscription is that it is number 136, with the reverse order of digits, which is, for example, typical of Bosporan epigraphy. To have letters suspended from the line of writing is typical of Late Byzantine minuscule.
